Laura Linney's performance of weak but strong characters has earned her the title of one of the top American actors. Her mother was a single, unmarried mother who was a nurse. She became interested in the theatre during time spent in the summer with her father, who was famous. She was a student of acting at Brown University, and later at Juilliard School. Within a mere two years following graduation she began her Broadway-based career. Following that, she made her debut in film and television. She has appeared in innumerable films, and television and stage productions since then. She has been nominated for three Academy Awards, five Tony Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), as well as received numerous awards over her time on the stage. In spite of all these awards, her passion for theater is still there in her, and she still performs as a stage performer and screen.
